Continuing with the PM4K NEWS Series on the Commonwealth Games Project here’s another update.
NEW DELHI: India on Tuesday said that it will be spending Rs 10555 crore ($2.26 billion) for hosting the Commonwealth Games next year. The organizing committee of the Games will be generating revenue of around Rs. 1708 crore ($366 million approximately) from international and domestic broadcasting, sponsorship, ticketing, licensed merchandise and donations. The information was given out by the minister of state for youth affairs and sports, Pratik Prakashbapu Patil, in the lower house of the Indian Parliament.
The minister said that recovery plans have been prepared for projects which are running behind their schedules. "It is expected that all the sports infrastructure projects will be completed in time before the Commonwealth Games, 2010," the minister added.
