Continuing with the PM4K NEWS Series on the Commonwealth Games Project here’s another update.
England’s announcement that it may pull out of next year’s Commonwealth Games in India due to fear of terrorist attacks has sparked indignant responses in the local Indian community. Police and security advisers fear that the English team will be targeted by Pakistani militants. Taking into account the Mumbai terrorist attacks that killed 166 people in November 2008, police and government officials are afraid Indian security measures will not be sufficient to protect the athletes, according to the Daily Telegraph.
