PM4K NEWS 066: KALMADI KEPT OUT OF 1ST DAY, 1ST SHOW

Continuing with the PM4K NEWS Series on the Commonwealth Games Project here’s another update.

NEW DELHI: The year seems to have got off to a bad start for Suresh Kalmadi, chairperson of the organising committee (OC) of the Commonwealth Games 2010. After the hockey India fiasco, followed by allegations of high-handedness by former players, Kalmadi now has beenexcluded from the run-up to the Commonwealth Games as well. According to OC sources, Kalmadi's exclusion from the unveiling of the first Games venue Major Dhyan Chand National stadium on Sunday hasn't gone down well with the chairperson. A senior office-bearer said: "The event was important as it is the first Games venue to be ready and marked the start of OC's direct involvement with the event's preparations. Yet, neither the chairperson nor any other official was invited.''
